Dawn French is an English comedian who used to produce a lot of funny
TV shows with Jennifer Saunders, the star of Absolutely Fabulous. In
this stand-up routine they ridicule second-rate female American
stand-ups - the sort who can only be “funny” by insulting the audience.

Dippy Saunders warms up the crowd by being a total flake. As she
departs in a twirl of psychedelic feathers, the compere suggests the
funny girl is a psychiatrist’s dream ticket and would make a great
subject for 3 upcoming books. Probably a trial run of her Ab Fab
character?

On waddles Dawn French. Being married in real life to a huge, larger
than life comedian, (Lenny Henry), Dawn French has had plenty of
practice commanding a stage. If you hold on to the fact that she is an
Englishwoman parodying a lame American comedian, then the act really
flies. But if you take her at face value, then she is definitely
cheesy! Although, when she picks people out the audience and rips
straight into them (marshmallow dick, a leper and a bimbo) she has
loads of good lines to make her better value than ever.
